Thriving After Surviving with Stephanie Anderson (From Power -To Pain -To Empowerment Series)
Join host, Jazzie Jones of Sojazzie Home Girl Media & Podcast as she speaks candidly with Stephanie Anderson.
Stephanie is a graduate of Letourneau University where she earned a Master of Science degree in Business Management. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Alabama where she double majored in Business Law and Commerce & Business, with double minors in English and Political Science.
Stephanie has prepared Export-Import Bank projects for US companies doing business in Ghana, Jamaica, and St. Lucia and generated millions of dollars in grants for non-profit organizations; as well as repaid government loans for local companies ranging from restaurants, heating and cooling companies to Flagship Hotels.
Stephanie is committed to bringing equal opportunities in business to people of all economic and social backgrounds through the education and training of individuals in the proper rules of business, rules of business law, and an understanding of the American tax structure and how it works in conjunction with (or against) state corporate structures of business.
She is also a Founding Member and President of NFL Sisters in Service, the only 501 c3 organization comprised of the Wives, Daughters, and Mothers of Current and Retired NFL Players who use their collective influence and professional talents to raise awareness and money for charitable causes and advocate on behalf of Professional Athletes. In 1998, as the partner of a young NFL Player, Stephanie filed the first successful disability claim for a brain injury determined to be caused by playing professional football against the NFL for an Active NFL Player. This ruling was the first time in which independent doctors hired by the NFL would state that a player’s brain injuries were caused from playing professional football and would eventually keep the 2017 NFL Concussion suit and billion-dollar settlement alive over a decade later. Stephanie has consistently been a voice and advocate for professional football players and their families for the last 20 years including her own.
As a survivor of child molestation, rape and kidnapping, Stephanie actively supports organizations dealing with this epidemic and speaks to youth and parents on recognizing the signs of molestation and gaining the strength to overcome the trauma of sexual violence.
She also serves pro bono as the business and finance consultant for The Trayvon Martin Foundation. Her involvement with the organization began with trying to get Trayvon’s killer arrested and a viral piece she wrote comparing Trayvon’s killing to Emmitt Till’s.
In 2016 Stephanie started the "Just Label It Petition" on Whitehouse.gov requiring mandatory labeling of all food containing genetically modified ingredients. The petition was one of the fastest growing in history, garnering over 100,000 signatures in less than 3 weeks triggering a response from President Obama. That same year, she ran for Congress as a Strict Constitutionalist, Independent, Progressive candidate in the state of Florida because of several issues including the policy requiring veterans to be homeless 1 year before assistance from the VA. Although she did not win, her entry into the race prompted the incumbent Debbie Wasserman-Shultz to look at these issues and change the policy!
